Treks & Trails International grew out of a passion for outdoor adventure, travel and the natural world shared by co-founders Paul Shaw and Todd Lange. With more than 30 years of combined experience, Paul and Todd have led numerous hiking and backpacking adventures throughout the world.
Following graduating from Penn State University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science, Todd had a successful career in the food industry as Senior Food Scientist for over 20 years. In 2006 he decided to "switch gears" and follow his dream to start an adventure travel company. A graduate of the National Outdoor Leadeship School (NOLS) in 2006, Rocky Mountain Guide School (2006), and the Kenai River Guide Academy (2007), he has guided in Alaska, Idaho, and Montana, and currently guides hikes in the Rocky Mountains, Sierra Nevada, Utah, and the Grand Canyon. Along with numerous international treks and expeditions, Todd thru-hiked the 2100 mile Appalachian Trail in 2002 and the 2700 mile Pacific Crest Trail in 2005.
Paul is a graduate of the National Outdoors Leadership School (NOLS), former Executive Director of Keystone Trails Association in Pennsylvania, and a lifelong hiker, backpacker, and trail maintainer. For many years, he has served as Outings Coordinator and as a hike leader for the Sierra Club. Paul has created, organized and led many trips for youth and adults throughout the US and Canada, South America, Mexico, the Caribbean and Europe.
